29/10-2006 AFRICAN CHILD, THAT SOUNDS LIKE AN ARTIST NAME, BUT IS IT REALLY YOUR NAME? As you can read in my biography, so is it the name my grandmamma gave me when my mama was pregnant. She said to my mama that this child is going to be a public person so I give him the name African Child. YOU HAVE DONE SOME TRAVELLING AND I READ THAT YOU SPEAK MANY LANGUAGES, HOW HAPPEN THAT YOU CAME TO SWEDEN? Well it was God who told me to come here, and then it happened TELL ME ABOUT YOUR BAND, DOES THE OTHER MEMBERS ALSO HAVE FOREIGN BACKGROUND? I dont understand this with foreign background, I only see us in the band as brother and sisters from different part of the world. I see the world as a room with mamas, papas, brothers and sisters. One planet, One People, One God, One Love. REGGAE IS GOOD TO LISTEN TO, BUT IT ISN'T ONLY NICE RHYTHM , IT HAS ALSO A MESSAGE. CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT THE HISTORY OF REGGAEReggae music is created of the descendents to the slaves, that dry the tears of the poor. Peace, love and unity to the whole mankind. Reggae is the music that dry the tears of the sufferers and stand for justice, equality and freedom. And it is the poor mans voice, it can make rich and poor come together with big love, make the world to a better place and give light and strainght to the blind, orphans and handicapped. And give light and power to the world HOW DO YOU THINK THAT THIS TYPE OF MUSIC IS ACCEPTED HERE? DOES WE NORDIC PEOPLE UNDERSTAND IT? Always when we play, the place is filled of public in all ages from 0-100. On one concert it was an old man with walking stick and problem with his balance that couldn't just stay still, he just followed the rhythm. We love him so much, and the public love us as we love them. WHAT HAS BEEN AFRICAN CHILD'S BIGGEST MUSICAL SUCCESS SO FAR? The response from the public from our first performance was incredible. And first time in a studio and record with a company from USA. And the latest is that our song Ghettolife is coming out on an combilation album on THE WHITE LABEL a recordcompany from England, that have worked with artist like Tina Turner, David Bowie, UB 40, Sex Pistols, Dire Straits and many more.
